LAGUNA PARK - Lisa Wingate, of Clifton, will be the guest speaker at a luncheon sponsored by Our Lady of the Lake Episcopal Church in Laguna Park on Tuesday, May 3.
Wingate is an award-winning journalist, magazine columnist, popular inspirational speaker and national bestselling author of sixteen books. She is one of a select group of authors to find success in both the Christian and mainstream markets.
Her bestselling books have become a hallmark of inspirational fiction. Lisa explains, "Each story begins with an inspiration from life, and after that, the writing is a journey of discovery. So many of today’s sound bites are sensational and awful, and when you take in all of those things, it is easy to lose faith in the world and in the goodness of people. I want to create books that are entertaining, but also good for the soul. I think we are all called to add something good to the world, to inspire and uplift. I have met so many people who have wonderful ways of doing that, I admire them. I want to be like them. I love to write about them."
Lisa’s works have been featured by numerous national book clubs and have been chosen for numerous awards. Recently, the group Americans for More Civility, a kindness watchdog organization, selected Lisa along with Bill Ford, Camille Cosby, and six others as recipients of the National Civies Award, which celebrates public figures who work to promote greater kindness and civility in American life.
Lisa’s next book, Dandelion Summer, comes out in July. Blue Moon Bay, sequel to Larkspur Cove, set in Moses Lake, Texas will be available in Feb, 2012. The real-life inspiration for Moses Lake is Lake Whitney.
